Project Overview

Create a project that displays a form of eroticism deeper than the mere concept of queerness, developing a common vocabulary capable of transcending all labels and senses, and uniting the three kingdoms: animal, plant, and mineral.

The Solution
  • The main focus of the triptych ‘Beautiful Ambush’ is on the dense vegetation of the scene, which portrays the female form as a garden filled with phallic plants made up of precious flowers, beneath which lurk a number of ‘sinister’ creatures. These elements work together to suggest a complex view of the link between the sensual and terrifying, the glorious blurring of sexuality and a complete loss of referents.
  • The second triptych, ‘I Want to Be You’, combines jellyfish, dahlia, and luxury lingerie to create new images that are unnervingly ambiguous and open to interpretation, the viewer unsure whether to expect a gentle caress of a ribbon or the sharp sting of a tentacle on their skin.
  • Finally, ‘love&hate’ draws inspiration from ancient Japanese prints to illustrate the intense ambivalence of passion in its own unique and symbolic gestures.
